The Federation of Aeronautical Sports of Ukraine (FASU) was established in 1992 after Ukraine gained independence.
The FASU unites national federations of independent Ukraine in various types of aeronautical sports: aerobatics, gliding, skydiving, aeronautics, hang gliding, paragliding, air modeling, rocket modeling. The FASU was created to represent and protect the interests of its members – athletes, coaches, sports judges – before state bodies of Ukraine and in international organizations, such as FAI and others for participation in national and international competitions, registration of sports achievements, records, etc.
Volodymyr Fedorovych Gubsky, Mykhailo Fedorovych Zakharov and Iris Dmytrovych Petryuk were the FASU founders.
Volodymyr Fedorovych Gubsky was the first president of FASU; Ivan Grygorovich Bilas was the FASU president from 1996 to 2005; Oleksandr Vasilyovych Halunenko was the FASU President from 2005 to 2025. Since June 2025, Yuriy Volodymyrovych Yakovlev has been elected as FASU President, and Oleksandr Vasilyovych Halunenko became the FASU President of Honor.
